Getting rid of Acne for your Big Day

First off, congratulations on your engagement! We know you’re incredibly excited about your Wedding day! It’s a beautiful time to be in love – you have the rest of your life with your partner to enjoy. We’re sure you’ve thought of everything wedding-related so far. Right from the venue, rings, the wedding gown, tuxedos, and floral arrangements, to the caterers, wedding favors, and table décor, you must have given it all a second look. You want to look and feel like royalty on your big day.

Once hair, makeup, shoes, and accessories are taken care of, you should pay closer attention to your skin. One of the most common complaints brides have is of acne on the day of the wedding. The acne could be because of multiple reasons like pollution, stress, anxiety, not enough sleep, too much makeup, or just because brides haven’t been drinking enough water. Whatever the reason, waking up with acne on your wedding day is hugely unflattering especially since you want everything to be perfect.

You can follow some of these steps and tips to get rid of acne for your big day. Some stuff can be done well in advance, while a tip or two may come handy on the morning of your wedding day. Without further ado, let’s get to it!

Visit a dermatologist:

Visiting a dermatologist 3 – 4 months before the wedding date is ideal. You can get acne creams, treatments, and also inquire about specific bridal packages or procedures. Acne treatments aren’t usually done immediately and require a few sittings or sessions that are spaced out over a month or two. You could opt for peels to make your skin fresher and hydrated. If you have any scars, then treatment can be started as early as 7 – 8 months before your wedding date. Usually, acne needs treatment prior to the scars treatment. Controlling your acne and scars well in advance will help you glow on the day of your wedding.

De-stress:

Yes, we know this is practically a moot point, but it is the most important. You must be able to manage stress if you want to look like a queen on your wedding day. You’ve already thrown yourself entirely into planning the wedding and everything associated with it. Take some time out every week and spend some de-stressing – practice yoga, try meditation, read a good book, listen to some music or go for a run. These will help tremendously in promoting your skin to look healthier and prevent any acne.

Use a good facewash:

Using a good acne face wash is a must. There are many face washes available today according to specific skin types that you can use. Use a cleanser, face wash, toner, and moisturizer daily before you sleep. Many women wash their face clean of all dirt and grime as often as three times a day. Remove your makeup entirely and let your skin breathe when you are at home. Avoid using too much makeup and once home, wash clean with a cleanser and face wash. Keeping your skin clean helps get rid of acne before your wedding day.

Wedding day acne hacks:

Everyone needs a wedding day acne hack for emergencies! These hacks are suitable for all skin types.

  • Toothpaste acne hack – Take a little white toothpaste on a cotton swab and apply it on the acne. Let it stay on the pimple as long as you can keep it. Once you’re done, remove it with a wet cotton swab. The acne will lost its redness and will settle considerably.
  • Baking soda acne hack – Take a teaspoon of baking powder and one teaspoon of water and mix until paste-like consistency. Apply this directly to the acne. Let dry for 3 – 4 minutes (not more than 5 minutes). Once dry, wash off with fresh water. Baking powder dries out acne and reduces the redness and inflammation so you can apply your wedding makeup with ease.
  • Ice cube acne hack – Rub an ice cube over pimples for a few minutes. Wipe clean before applying makeup. Ice helps in easing the acne and reducing the swelling and redness to considerable decrease the size of the pimples.

Always remember, acne can be avoided well in advance. But if it’s unavoidable, use these hacks with a good face wash to still look your best on your wedding day. If your skin still isn’t as bright as you’d like on your wedding day, relax. Let your makeup artist do the rest. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your wedding day!
